I was recently informed that the PA show is one of the fastest growing programs on ReachMD. So many of you have offered your stories, your experience, and often just your ears, to help me work through topics and ideas. You have all played a huge role in this show and I thank you.
When we started the PA show two years ago the
first show title was printed as "Physician's Assistance" I knew then that
we had a long way to go.
As PAs we all know that we have a long way to
go, and this was highlighted with the recent omission of our profession
from the Obama healthcare speech. My goal for the PA show has always been
the education of medical professionals about the PA profession, it is apparent
that the goal needs to be expanded to our political leaders and the public.
ReachMD has committed to expanding the PA show
and has been very impressed with the number of PA listeners, and
MDs as well.
Please help me with this National PA exposure!
If you haven't logged on to ReachMD and registered as a PA, please do that
and ask all of the PAs you know to do the same. One of the things I love
about the PA profession is the passion we all have for what we do, I will
take that passion to every ear that will listen. Lisa

Forty years ago, the title of "physician associate" was changed to "physician assistant." Now there is a strong grassroots effort amongst PAs to change the name back. On April 5, 2010, 50 leaders in the PA profession signed a letter declaring that the title "physician associate" better fits the role. Bob Blumm, immediate past president of the Association of Plastic Surgery Physician Assistants and a supporter of the letter, joins host Lisa Dandrea Lenell to talk about why this change is critical to the profession, the implications it will have on the future and what needs to be done to make the change a reality.
